Six communications design students from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts (Fox in the Field Chroniclers) set out to capture the day in both words and pictures.

Led by professor D.B. Dowd, who teaches the class “Visual Journalism and Reportage Drawing,” the students effectively worked as a small, on-site graphic design shop. Illustrators Leslie Ding and Brandon Progrob, both stationed near the stage, and photographer Ria Han, who “floated” throughout the space, all fed images back to art directors Maya Theus and Eden Lewis. Lewis also provided additional illustration, as did editor Sophia Brown.

The results were screened in a trio of slideshows, presented at breakfast, lunch and the final evening reception. Collected below are examples from all five panel sessions. You can also view students’ work on twitter @foxinthefield.
